Hello, I’m filling out the common application for Boston University, and it has an essay section and a short essay section. The short essay section is mandatory for all applicants. The first essay section has two essays, and the second one is for those applying for the University Professors Program only. I’m applying to the College of Arts and Sciences. The first essay is for those applying to Sargent College, the School of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Communication, the School of Hospitality Administration, the School of Management, or any of the accelerated programs. This leads me to believe that I do not have to fill out either of these essays, but I want to double check. Thank you very much.

I'm pretty sure you only have to fill out Essay 9, which is the Why BU one.

thanks a bunch

yeah...you don't have to write the extra one if you're applying to arts and sciences

i was told that you had to write the "why BU" one and a regular essay of your topic. for the proffessors program and all the other good stuff you have to write the "why" essay and the specific essay that they tell you to write about.

since the Common Application requires a regular essay too, in addition to why BU, I still think you should send one even if you didn't use the Common. Ap
