"See attached resume" vs. filling out each activity

Hell. On the CofC application it says to the student may write in "See attached Resume". Has anyone done this verses filling in each activity?
Do you write "See attached" in the first activity space?

Also the (optional) Personal Statement section is written a little kooky. It is optional but says

then says "most student should fill it out". Next sentence-- Fill it out if there was a GAP year.

The sentences seem to contradict each other. What do you think?

My S did not attach a resume because he sent his resume to the honors college, but I think it would be fine to write " See attached Resume" in the line, and my S went ahead and wrote the Optional essay, because he heard that nothing on a college app is really “Optional”. even if they say it is.

We visited the HC and the rep specifically told us not to write an optional essay unless there is something specific you want to convey that isn’t already on your app.
