My record:
~30 units of all Fs followed by ~65 units of all A's. Course load progressively intensifies.
Cumulative GPA around 2.7 (mostly math/science classes)
Rejected: UCLA, UCSD, UCI, pending UCM, UCR (both requested official transcripts)

Going off trends, I expect a rejection from UCR and UCM. Aside from the low cumulative, that string of F's probably makes me look unreliable. I would like to appeal UCR (first choice) and possibly UCI and UCLA (in case UCR appeal is denied).

Things that might make a difference on appeal:
*academic renewal is likely to "line out" most, but not all, of the Fs
*stated major on application was biology/biochemistry but I've fulfilled more major courses for chemistry. Can I change my major to chemistry? In any event, I plan to take upper division chemistry courses even though my academic interests are biological.
*received a chemistry award and a chemistry scholarship in the current semester. If lower financial need increases my chances, scholarship was for $8,000 (paid over 2 years).
*780 on chemistry SAT II in 1/08 (also took ACT and other SAT subject tests beginning of the year)
*two professors offered to write recommendation letters, one to speak directly to admissions on the phone. (Is this even an option?)

I don't know very much about the appeal process. What things did I list that are irrelevant; what should and shouldn't I include? I think the biggest change that'd help my case would be academic renewal boosting my cumulative, and I'm still waiting for the petition to be approved so that an official transcripts can reflect it.

Thanks for any advice or responses.
