Seeking College for Daughter with Asperger's

I don’t really know the schools, but from my research, the University of Connecticut, Rutgers, Adelphi and Fairleigh Dickinson all have fairly well defined programs (for a fee). Spoke with the person at Connecticut and the program does seem very comprehensive and they currently have about 15 kids in the program. I would prefer to find somewhere in the midwest for my son, so if anyone has had good experiences with any schools in the midwest (particularly math/science schools), I would appreciate the info.

[Center for Students with Disabilities - Division of Student Affairs - University of Connecticut](http://www.csd.uconn.edu/)

UCONN always gets high marks for support of students with LD’s etc.

I also have a daughter that’s interested in studying Japanese (but along with fine arts rather than theatre). She’s in 10th grade now, so I am just now starting to get a list together for some summer visits. She has ADD and her gpa is around 3.3 (180 PSAT), so some of these may be below your D target schools. Here’s what I have so far for schools with Japanese programs (some are not in east, but I am just going to list them all):

-Evergreen State College (WA)
-Beloit College (WI)
-Oberlin College (OH)
-Denison College (OH)
-Earlham College (IN)
-Whittier College (CA)
-Warren Wilson (NC -asian studies, but not Japanese, although good abroad program)
-Mt. Union College (OH)
-Cal State Fullerton
-Western Washington
-Knox College (IL)
-The Eugene Lang New School
-Bard College (NY -mentioned in The Best 373 Colleges as a good school for students with learning disabilities. Sounds like an accepting place for someone on the spectrum too.)

If your D is a better student than mine, Oberlin and Bard would be ideal for her. Very accepting climate. Good luck! Oh, also maybe look at Skidmore.

Oh, I completely missed that the OP posted in 2009! Ah well, someone hopefully will get something from the Japanese program list ;)

OP here: Daughter ended up at Pace U OASIS Program. Still there. Best of all possible worlds, but a rocky road, with changes in admin. Everything seems on track at the moment, but obviously daughter has not completed her degree in 4 years. OASIS’ professional/vocational development is improving.

I’d suggest a school close to home or a commuting school.
