Seeking help in finding some target schools...

I would really appreciate some help finding some schools to look into. I'm interested in a New England (or somewhere nearby) LAC, and some things I want in a school include: a good environmental studies program, a small-medium student body, minimal greek life, a more scenic country location (though I haven't necessarily ruled out metropolitan schools either), and a politically active, liberal student body.

My basic stats are:
SAT: 2120 (670 M, 720 CR, 730 W)
Unsure of GPA because of my school's system, though I know I place at least in the top third of my class, with mostly b's (average grade is probably right between a B and B+) in primarily AP and honors courses. Also, if it means anything, my grades will show a significant improvement in senior year first semester.
A fair amount of involvement in extracurricular activities.

Some schools that have piqued my interest include Conn College, Bates, Colby, and Wesleyan. However, I think it's fair to say that these are all reaches, and I'm looking to find more schools within a better target range. Also, I am not opposed to applying ED round II if a school interests me enough and it substantially improves my chances of acceptance.
I would truly appreciate any advice, as I'm having a difficult time composing a solid list of schools to apply to. Thanks!

Colby is a good match for your interests–a reach, but not impossible at all. Write good essays and practice your interviewing skills! :)

Not in New England, but Northern New York, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY.
Wonderful academics, great professors, nice location, good financial aid.
One of my children went to SLU & I grew up in NNY, so I recommended it to her!
Truly “A Candle In the Wilderness” as it has always been known.

Greek Life doesn’t dominate the social scene. I think there is one fraternity left, maybe 3 sororities at most. Check it out!

Top LAC in USNWR #56 or #57 as I recall?

If you are on the east coast, and especially if you are from NE, you would do yourself a favor by considering the midwestern LACs. Grinnell and Oberlin would be reaches with your GPA (unless the trend is seriously upward since 9th grade), but take a look at Beloit, Hendrix, Rhodes, Lawrence, Kenyon and others regional favorites.

Another often overlooked gem is St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public LAC (not a private Catholic girls school) located on the Chesapeake. The campus is lovely and you can take out a sailboat any time. Again, may be a reach with your GPA, but worth a look.

Might look at Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious). Holy Cross has a good environmental studies program and a nice campus with no greek life. HC’s politics runs both sides but favors Democrats for poltical alumni with 1 US Senator, 3-4 Congressmen, Chris Matthews of MSNBC, and Obama’s main speechwriter.
