Seems I've been rejected by JHU pre-application

I've applied for JHU BCMB, 2010 fall.

Seems I even haven't passed the pre-application, because I still get any information while my classmates get the invitation.

I bet it's due to my low GRE score, only (verbal 510,total 1310). But my Toefl and GPA are both high, why can't toefl and GPA make up for my low GRE score?

btw, I’m an international student…

There are a lot of factors that come into play for grad school applications not just GPA and standardized tests. If they have rejected you it could be for any number of reasons.

For your GRE correct me if I am wrong but 1310=Q+V=Q+510. So doesnt this mean you got an 800 Q? I dont know what your major is but if it is any kind of science they care way more about the quantitative portion of the GRE. So it seems that is probably not the reason you haven’t gotten any invitations.

What kind of information does the pre-application require? Is there something there, other than your low verbal score, that could have triggered a denial? Have you gone to the JHU website to see what their policies are for international students?

Depending on what you find, you might want to readjust your applications/expectations. In many ways, this could be a blessing – a sort of canary in the mine – that can warn you about what lies ahead before it gets too late.

the pre-application website can only show my GPA, undergraduate institution, GRE, and Toefl and a short description of research.

my only weakness they can directly see from this is Verbal…

And one of my classmates get the rejection, the reason is low AW score; while I still get no news…

But maybe no news is good news.

maybe you’re right…I’ve put many top schools in my list.

But I really wanna go to a top school!

No, today I got the message that I’ve passed the pre-application,haha~
