Segundo vs. Cuarto

I keep hearing that Segundo is the best place to live in out of the three, since it is the newest, close to the ARC, has the biggest DC and is on campus. Although I have a friend who lives in a suite in Cuarto and she loves it.

I’d like to know:
What’s the difference between a suite vs. a hall?
Which is more expensive?
Is it more difficult to make friends in a suite or hall?
Which gives more of a “homey” feeling?
The benefits of living in Davis’ on-campus housing vs. their off-campus housing.

I’d like to know:
What’s the difference between a suite vs. a hall?

In a hall you will live with either one or two roommates in a room and will share a bathroom with around 8-10 people who live on the same floor as you. In a suite you will likely live with one other roommate, but it will sort of be like an apartment. You enter the door and there will be 2-6 rooms, each with around 2 people. The benefit of a suite is you’ll share the bathroom with 2 people, 4 people, or sometimes 5 people.

Which is more expensive?

They are the same in price.

Is it more difficult to make friends in a suite or hall?

Suite because you are sort of in an apartment setting. You can’t just walk out of your room and see another person’s room door open and say hi. It’s sort of different. Basically think of an outdoor motel. There are, however, many events to meet people in the beginning of the year so it is up to you.

Which gives more of a “homey” feeling?

DEFINITELY suite.

Is Cuarto considered off-campus by your def? Cuarto is actually nice if you’d ask me. It’s more of a home feeling and you can get pretty close to your roommate and suitemates. You also have your own common area where you can just chill and study.

Segundo. No one wants to be in Cuarto…it’s too far away from campus and it sucks when you have to get home at night and the buses don’t run by.

If you want to live in a suite, there are living arrangements in Segundo where you have 4 roommates living together, but you have 2 people on opposite sides with a living area to put your desk, tv, etc. in the middle. People tend to like those floorplans.

And you definitely make more friends living in a hall than in a suite. People in Cuarto are kind of off in their own worlds because they’re so far off campus.
