Hey guys! Sorry if i sound pretentious, but how much would it help with my college applications to HYPSM if i co-author my science research in the "Science" journal? My professor claims that its one of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world? So, would it help? Once again, sorry if i sound pretentious.... :(

Yes. It an Nature are the two most prestigious science journals in the world. How sure are you that the article will even get published?

The “acceptance rate” for Science and Nature is close to Harvard’s rate (under 7%).

Yeah, it looks great but the process to publish an article isn’t instant and if you’re doing research now, chances are it won’t be published in time for you applications.

But lets be real, anyone who is knowledgeable about how research works knows that a high school student doing summer research probably did less than 5% of the work and the other 9X% was done by grad students and post docs. Even moreso if you work in a lab for 2 months and then instantly published in Science.
