Selected for verification - question on documents needed

Our application was selected for verification. We received the e-mail today and everything is due tomorrow. Anyhow, the school (MSM) is asking for several things. I have found most everything I am needing to send, but I have a couple of questions.

They are asking for the Student 2011 Federal Tax Transcript. My daughter has not worked, ever.

They also say "Federal Funds History FAFSA error code ". I'm not sure what they are needing. I've gone over the FAFSA and everything looks ok. I filed taxes a little over a week ago but can't use the IRS retrieval tool, so I requested a Transcript.

Any idea, what they are referring to on the Federal Funds question?

Thanks so much,

Kay

As far as the first item, the school might have a Student Tax Non-Filing Statement or something similar. It’s basically a form where you list any income or wages your S or D potentially had and have them sign that they were not required to file a return. That’s what I had to do for my S who didn’t make enough to require filing last year. Check with the school’s fin aid department for this form if needed.

Kdog,

I found what I needed for the student info. No idea about the other request.

I am guessing that Federal Funds History FAFSA error code has to do with previous federal financial aid. Is this the first time your child will be in college? If so, maybe it means that the history was checked & she doesn’t have a history (because she has never received aid). The best thing to do is call or email the aid office.

kelsmom,

This will be her first year. She is a senior in high school. We have never had any financial aid.

It is probably a federal aid check, and not a problem. Do contact the aid office to find out, though.

Thank you. I will call in the morning.

I just called MSM. They are getting a lot of calls on that error code about federal funds, but they don’t know what it’s referring to. They are trying to track it down.
