Title Says it all. Do i need to email every school and say that my parent decided he actually wants to apply for aid? Or do i just send the forms and have they infer ?
Contact the schools…and let them know to,change this. Need aware schools use your ability to pay when they review your application.
Contact each school…and get that changed on your application.
Will this have a crucial effect on my application (not the financial part, but the late decision ti have to switch all of this?)
Possibly. It would depend on the school
Don’t panic. First check to see which schools you have applied to are “need blind”. Your application for aid won’t impact on the decisions from those schools. Next, look at the ones that are not “need blind”. Do you think you will get merit aid from any of them? Are any of them less expensive so financial aid won’t be necessary. Colleges won’t hold the switch against you but some do give preference to those not applying for aid. Wash U is notorious for that. But if you can’t afford to attend without aid, it is necessary to contact the schools.
Also you may want to use the financial aid calculators on the college web sites first to see if you are even eligible for aid. If you aren’t, it is a moot point. Your dad may not know a lot about the criteria used. Check first!
just do the fafsa/css and add all the school names to it, you do not need to inform every school unless it is for merit scholarships-- someone correct me if i am wrong. What is the deadline for the 2016-2017 school year to file on time?
