Selected the Wrong Option for Essay

For the main common application essay that states "Please indicate your topic by checking the appropriate button below" I accidently selected Option 4 (diversity) instead of Option 1 (significant experience).

My essay makes absolutely no sense under Option 4 but I applied early and results are coming in in less than a week. Do you think the admissions officers will understand and overlook it or did I pretty much destroy my chances? I think it's too late to send them any message about it since I submitted my application late October and didn't notice until now...

My only solace is that I only applied to one school early so I know that the remaining 10 apps I have yet to send do not have this same mistake =/

You’re screwed. :frowning: Colleges hate mistakes like this, it shows irresponsibility.

Lol jk, you should have emailed the college about the mix up, most colleges would be understanding, they know this is a stressful time and that accidents happen. If your essay was good, I doubt that the deciding factor would be if the right selection was chosen.

I highly doubt colleges would take much notice. It’s a minor error if anything.
