<p>I've seen the heels and designer bags at Penn. I've also seen the Penn students in grunge-wear and typical college student gear. </p>
<p>I wonder if the colleges with significant grad school populations wind up with a more sophisticated style of dress on campus. </p>
<p>It's hard for me to tell how old the students are when I see them walking around - so I can't say if the kids I have noticed in designer gear are grads or undergrads. </p>
<p>I have also seen some of the girls my son is friends with on campus wearing heeled sandals and cutesy short skirts.
There are a few clothing stores actually on campus - Ann Taylot Loft, Gap, Eastern Mountain Sports and Urban Outfitters. They're all mid-high to high end - but diverse in style. I don't know what makes a college lean toward one style or another. I suspect a number of factors are involved. </p>
<p>Hmmmm....I think I recall also seeing this at Georgetown on our visit, but to a lesser degree.</p>
