I've just completed my A levels in Singapore. Unfortunately i do not think i did well enough to be admitted in business school over here. My results were a mediocre BBB in Mathematics Chemistry and Physics. I have a few questions about studying in Canada.

1) Do canadian universities recognize the A Levels? And in addition, am i required to take additional standardized tests like the SATs or the TOEFL when English is our first language here in Singapore?
2) How do canadian universities compare against Singaporean universities in terms of reputation of their business programs and employment opportunities upon graduation?\
3) There is no kind way to say this, but if i want out of Singapore, can Canada offer me the opportunities to find permanent employment over there if i decide to enrol in a university there?
4) Finally, which are the best business schools in Canada (that i will be able to qualify for)?

Thank you!!

1) I’m not too sure about A Levels, but probably. It’s not a popular/well known form of test in Canada. As for SATs, I would doubt it, however they do require SATs for certain international students just to standardize your marks. I would definitely send the Canadian schools you are interested in an email asking for that information. TOEFL is not required if your country’s first language is English so no, you don’t need to take TOEFL.

2) Well obviously Canadian universities with good reputation would be highly regarded by corporations IN Canada and maybe in USA, while the same thing applies to the universities in Singapore so unless you are thinking about international reputation and opportunities, I would say that they cannot be compared. Simply, great universities in Singapore are probably as amazing as great universities in Canada.

3) That’s a question I cannot answer at all. I believe you can apply to be an immigrant, but pernament careers are probably closer to being impossible to achieve even if you studied in Canada. (Note: Probably closer to being impossible, but NOT impossible).

4) Well I don’t know what you’re GPA or your resume looks like but UWO’s business school is amazing and very competitve, UBC’s business is very competitive and well known as well. Queen’s as a great commerce program, and I would assume U of T and McGill has a great business programe too. One of the good things about Canadian universities is that all of them are quite well rounded, just some are more outstanding than others.

Hopefully this helped a little bit!
