I was accepted to the Pratt School of Engineering and selected my intented major as mechanical engineering. However, now I'm much more interested in Biomedical engineering and would like to now how a major is selected at duke. I ask because I know johns hopkins only has a limited number people selected for biomedical engineering. How and when do you select your major? What do I do freshman year to prepare for this major? And are majors limited at duke (specifically BME) like that of johns hopkins? Any response will be appreciated. Thank you.

You pick your own major, typically by sometime sophomore year; you fill out a form that says "I want to do X"; and there is no limit to the number of Duke BMEs. As an engineer, you can easily switch among BME, CEE, ECE, and MEMS as you want, and you can also "Go Trinity" (i.e. liberal arts) though (a) that takes a little more effort and (b) you probably need to decide that by the end of freshman year.
