I read in a thread some time ago that unlike the SATIs, SATIIs give you a chance to withhold the scores that you don't wish the colleges to see.

my subject test scores from June look like this:
math iic: 800
physics: 690
us history: 550

I'm applying to top 15 colleges and I know that my scores aren't enough. I'm retaking physics and us history in October. If withholding the score is possible, will I be able to send 800 math iic score from June and hopefully higher scores of physics/us history from October, and withhold the physics/us history score from June?

or if I decided to withhold a certain test score, would I have to withhold all the tests I took at the same time...

Since you know your scores, it is obviously too late to cancel. If you send an SAT score report, all scores will be on it.

If potential schools accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT reasoning and subject tests, you could go that way. But then that nice math score wouldn't be seen.

is there like a list or something that tells you how the top colleges consider the SAT IIs, like if they consider only the top x scores or top score for each subject

hmm. this appeared in the book "A is for Admission" According to the author (former Dartmouth adcom), withholding score is possible. I'll confirm and post the exact quotes once I find the book.

The College Board web site would trump a book in any event.

Chedva is right. Score choice for SAT IIs was available until several years ago (I don't recall the exact date; you can probably find it on the CB web site if interested, because the old scores would still have "score choice" applicable to them).
