what selection criteria are taken into consideration when you apply for residency? Do they stress a lot on which medical school you graduated from or just results of your board exam?

It really depends on what you want to do.

If you are interested in an extremely competitive residency such as radiology or ophthalmology, residency programs may put more weight on where you received your medical education. It also depends on where you would like to do your residency and/or the competitiveness of the residency program (which depends upon if you are interested in academic medicine vs private practice).

So really it depends on what kind of doctor you want to be and what kind of career you would like to have. If you are interested in research or in having an academic position, then the residency programs you will want to attend will most likely take where you graduated from into consideration. If however you are interested in private practice, primary care, or specialities such as emergency medicine, then where you come from means a lot less.
