I have been accepted to 5 schools and am so torn in between and have sort of narrowed it down to two, but I’d still like to list them all and hear everyone’s opinion…
Some background information:
- I live in California
- I love learning a bunch of different things so I applied to a bunch of different majors at different schools just because i’m not sure what I want to do yet
- I also love to have fun and I enjoy going to big sporting events and such, but small schools have their benefits too
- I prefer warm weather
- Paying for college won’t break the bank but it is preferable to take advantages of my merit scholarships
- 3.79 GPA and 29 ACT
- Love travelling and study abroad and have lived in 4 different countries myself
In order of my preference right now…
- ASU for biomedical engineering with the Provost Scholarship and applying for the Barretts Honors College (i find out jun 5) and would most likely get it according to the peeps over at ASU… the scholarship rounds up to a grand total of $48k over the course of 4 years. What I’m thinking would work best about ASU is if I do end up at the Honors College, I would be in a small college of 5000 kids with the best housing facilities and best faculty team, but at the same time get the huge college experience that I very much enjoy.
- Chapman University for Business and I got an $80k scholarship over the course of 4 years. Lots of money and fun little school
- CU Boulder for Biology - Beautiful campus and college town, but no money offered from there
- Northeastern - Got in with the NU program where I have to go abroad for a semester, and apparently I only have the choices of going to Greece and Ireland.. no money offered either. My whole family loves New England and honestly I wouldn't mind it too much but all my friends are on the west coast and I'd have to drive my car over.
- Eugene Lang, the New School - Got $44,000 for four years, but it will barely scratch the surface of the expenses I'd pay in new york for the school.. also I've lived in new york and does not enjoy going to school at a city as much
Even if I don’t get in the Honors College, do you think it’d still be a good idea for me to attend ASU and try applying for the honors college in spring term again (apparently that has a higher acceptance rate)
I also got waitlisted at Santa Clara, NYU and BU.
I’m going to reject NYU’s waitlist but I’m waiting on Santa Clara and BU , of which would come out by May 25th and Jun 15th Respectively. Santa Clara was my top choice before but I realized I would get a similar education with similar background of people at Chapman but with the money too… so should I just stop considering that even if I got in?
Please let me know what you all think, and if ASU would be a good choice…
