Selective Scholarship awards date? FAFSA date? is IU Thinkpad friendly?

So, what’s the deal on when the Selective Scholarship awards will be announced?

DD has been accepted and into Hutton (direct) and received the automatic scholarship, and was encouraged  to apply for SSA’s. She applied but all is quiet on the Western front since then.

Also by when do we need to have FAFSA done for IU (merit only) ?

Also Also, are Lenovo Thinkpad laptops popular in Bloomington? I saw their blurb recommends Dell, Apple, and Sony but we get a heavenly discount on Thinkpads from wife’s work and have had stellar experiences with them.

I called this morning and was told April 1 was the date they were shooting for to respond to all scholarship $$ for Kelly and Hutton DAs. I’m in same situation as ur dau. Can’t answer the FAFSA question.

Check with the school’s technical support services in regard to the Thinkpad question. At my D’s school, they were not recommended.

April 1st, yikes, @College2B. Patience is a virtue I suppose. Thanks!

Surprising about Thinkpads, @suzy100 as they’re as solid as it gets. Thanks!

As long as it is a PC with Windows 7 or later, you will be fine. Macs are also allowed but must be bootcamped if used for a couple of computer classes. If she is not going into Kelley, ignore this

My Daughter received notification this week that she was awarded a scholarship from her SSA. They sent an email copy of the letter. She applied to SOIC as direct admit. Can you receive more than one selective scholarship? We are OOS and the one she was awarded indicated preferential treatment for Indiana residents.

@03100504 Yes you can get more than one

Found out today she got a second one as Direct admit!

Also, I do know someone with a ThinkPad and they have been fine so far

One of DD’s friends got some big Kelley $$$ (they were announced today). Let’s hope that the rest of the SSA’s will be announced soon.

Thanks, @iubaccounting for the info, they’re nice machines if a bit too stodgy for cool college kids. And, @03100504 one of my best buddies’ kids got into IU Comp Sci, nice scholarship and all, finished, and is now a Silicon Valley software developer after a stint with Amazon… Good program.

FAFSA deadline is March 10. I would recommend completing it ASAP as there can be connection issues with the site.

Confused by “they were announced today”. Are you saying that Kelly made its final announcement on scholarship dollars today? Hmm, my info was they would finish announcing by April 1. Maybe the fools joke is on me and as a DA to Kelly I’m getting nada.

DD’s friend got a call from Kelley a couple days ago and was informed of the award - the friend was direct admit to Kelley and qualified for the automatic $ but the Kelley $$ is a bit more. I feel the timeline for SSA’s in general is early to mid March, not April 1. I looked at this forum previous years and it seemed that way at least.

Turbo93, are in you in state or out of state? I’m just wondering. We haven’t heard anything about any Kelley SSA’s yet and are hopeful for some money. Were you speaking about your friend being a Kelley Scholar? If so, congrats! That’s a huge deal. Also curious as to what the max amount is for the Honor’s Scholarship. The website is vague.

We’re instate. I heard a rumor that Hutton Honors is $1-$6k. And for Kelley Scholars, that the number of spots awarded was maybe a dozen total.
