UIUCs was around 60% actually not 69% and the once the 2009 admission data becomes available i expect it to go down even more.

Collegeboard is often not very reliable on stats. They are usually 5 or 6 years old.

^ I thought CB data was behind 2 years. I entered selectivity data into my spreadsheet last spring and had to update quite a few recently.

Yeah, collegeboard is about a year or two old. Horrible to know such, since it’s a site put well together.

Hate to keep up the repetition, but college board data isn’t exactly up to date on this issue.

Minnesota’s is actually in the 40’s.

College Board, at this point in the year, would be using information for the Class of 2011, I believe.

On a Minnesota side note, at my orientation for their business school (Carlson) for the most recent class (Freshman fall 2009) the acceptance rate was only 24%. I was quite impressed that Carlson was actually that selective.

Minnesota in 40’s, where did you get this information from?

Another point: I’ve always been so surprised at how high Michigan’s acceptance rate is considering the caliber of its incoming student body. Maybe this is just because they have such a huge student body, but it has always seemed strange.

Michigan’s acceptance rate is that high?

Michigan has to accept a lot of nonresidents, because its high price (and limited non-resident aid) means its yield on those admits is relatively low. Fortunately, it has a pretty deep applicant pool so it can do that and still have a strong student body. But it definitely boosts that acceptance rate. Keep in mind it also has about a 1/3 of the class filled with NonResidents.

“Minnesota in 40’s, where did you get this information from?”

33,000 applicants this year, 5000 freshman spots, and based of the yield rate from last year, I believe the number of accepted students this year would have been 15K-16K max. So there you go. I’m not sure what Wisconsin’s most recent numbers look like, but as of right now, UMinn may be among the top three toughest schools to get into in the Big 10 (behind Northwestern and Michigan).

Bick,

Still can’t go to the College Navigator site which shows UMiami’s selectivity trumps McUFs huh?

Hey before you go of trying to bring your Bernie “Big” Mac Big Lie tour to the Big 10 schools, why not answer some unfinished biz on Florida schools:
