Does anyone have silverturtle's self chancing sheet? mind emailing it to me at wes.snider@yahoo.com?

Thanks =D

I don’t have it, but I’d like to- so if somebody sees this who does, and wouldn’t mind sending it to me, can you shoot me a PM so I can get you my email?

I would also be interested in the self scoring sheet, if anyone has it. :)

Do a search, type in “self-chancing tool”, and you will find Silverturtle’s post dated 10/18/09.

i know, i tried asking him for it but he hasn’t responded. plus, his PM inbox was full. =/

bump…

PM me too please

I did a little research for you and I found out that silverturtle had given a download link to the Self-chancing tool. So here it is:

thank you. :)

Your Welcome :D

what does a 55% mean? at what school do i have that chance

Erg… I can never get it to work!! You just plug in the numbers and then what?

then a percent comes at the bottom. i dunno what to make of it though

It still won’t work… Could some one plug this in for me? Would be very appreciated  Thanks!

I find that no matter what you put in the % Chance of Acceptance never changes from 20, however the possible outcome (i.e. Accepted & Rejected) does change. One question though, which college/university is this tailored to? Surely you can’t use one chancing mechanism for all schools lol

This seems extremely flawed and out of context.

 1. What school does this refer to?
 2. My Hispanic heritage seems REALLY important to this thing (a 2400 SAT give you 500 points. Being Hispanic gives you 500 points as well. I mean, I know diversity is important and all, but really?)
 3. The algorithm only takes into account class rank if you are 1
 4. A avg. of 700 on SATII’s is +150 points, but and avg. of 690 is -50. That seems wrong.

Hmmm. Well whatever this is and however this works, it says I have a >95% percent of getting in to whatever school its for.

Actually from what I’ve seen it takes rank into account when in the top 10%. How did you get it to give you 95%? I tried putting in basically perfect stats for everything and it still said 20%.

Oh never mind, I think I’m actually just 95%. Okay what’s annoying is that when I put in $1,000,000 for income, it give me 300 point, but when I asked my Dad he said it is more like $1,200,000 - so when I put it in, it only gave me 50 points…I really doubt that a difference like that would really matter. And when I put in $900,000 out of curiosity, it gave me 0 points, so this is obviously a highly flawed system. I just used a million dollars to give me the most points :stuck_out_tongue: And that puts me at 95% but at a million and one dollars, I’m at 85%.

If you read Silverturtle’s original thread, he had his sheet designed for HYP, specifically Yale. He did acknowledge it’s not perfect, there’s no way it could be. Apparently he created it after referencing some chance/accept threads, or something similar.

And if your percentage isn’t changing from 20%, you may be using an old version of Excel. It won’t work in Excel 2003 or later. You can download OpenOffice, or buy the new Excel, and it should work.
