Self-doubt about having chosen Cornell

you're not helping.

state school IMO

LOL, this thread is funny.

honestly, a lot of those comments can be really hard on the person deciding where to go, they are very influential.

I dont know what to tell the OP since I havent experienced that, but all i can say is, if you dont feel comfortable with your decision, then, how are you going to feel once you go there? You are either going to like it, or hate it.

some distant relative of mine from New York tried telling me last week that Cornell was a state school...he also asked me why i didnt apply to Harvard or Yale (like those are the only good schools in the nation) and said that all Cornell was good for is Hotel Management
what an idiot...my opinion of HIM has gone down as a result of our conversation, not my opinion about Cornell

i love Cornell

GAh. Another stereotype. It's not a state school, juxtaposn. And it's not related to SUNY. They just get FUNDING from NY...

FACTS about Cornell

A little more than half of the student body hurls itself into Cascadilla gorge every year -- precisely why the university accepts a higher percentage of applicants than all the other Ivies combined (most students who decide to attend ultimately take their own lives.)

Cornell is a SUNY school, so it isn't very prestigious (state schools can't be good schools - that's just impossible.)

Students are lucky to receive instruction from a TA since there are no actual professors on-campus. Most courses are taught by upperclassmen, but a few CALS courses (animal science, agroeconomics) are taught by cows.

Cornell says it's in the Ivy league, but it really isn't.

also:

Ezra Cornell didn't make his fortune from the telegraph industry, but rather from the production, sale, and distribution of fine quality urinal cakes

Also, to correct an earlier post, Cornell isn't SUNY - SUNY has chosen to only represent institutions of higher education

what a load of b*******, have no regrets going to cornell, you certainly won't meet idiots like juxtaposn

whoooooosh

juxtaposn, why do you HATE Cornell so much?

OP, please don't listen to him... none of that is true, obviously.

because it SUX and I would never go there

and it's all true, baby

LOL!!! juxtaposn is being an extremist. Hes being sarcastic....

justaposn, then, don't go there, but all the garbage you've posted has been refuted in so many threads with factual evidence and links to other websites.

The garbage that you write about Cornell being an SUNY school is false and stupid. Three of Cornell's seven undergraduate colleges and its veterinary school are affiliated with SUNY because they receive some funding from the state. Other than that, most funding still comes from the normal sources such as alumni and such, and they are still controlled by Cornell board of trustees. So, what you post is a load of BS!

And all Cornell colleges are in the Ivy League...end of story.

no, u

wow people...it's called sarcasm. hahahaha I'm really suprised people aren't picking that up :)

Cornell is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING school. Those people are seriously just jealous or ignorant or plain mean. No other way to explain it lol. Congrats on getting in! Ur gonna have suchhhh a GREAT TIME!

Ehh, not dealing with this. However, I trust all the Cornellians on here. I mean -live gave me such a good rundown of Cornell that I'm almost sure of doing ED there.

I don't think the OP would appreciate sarcasm, since he already feels bad about all his friend's comments... but whatever. lol.

^ me too! I'm considering ED here. I love Cornell!

Guys stop attacking juxtaposn, he is just playing a joke on you!!!!!!

Thank you so much to (most) everyone who responded!! I am incredibly grateful- I guess I just needed extra reassurance because people can be petty douchebags...

I can't wait to meet everyone- yay Cornell 2011!

don't worry, you made the right choice.

What your friends say is really just meant to hurt you ... I can't see how any of what they say is meant to be practical advice or a congratulations of any sorts. I'm sorry to say this, but getting away from them may be a big boost for you.

Re-evaluate your "friends" and not your college choice.
