Self-fill IGETC, Major Prep, etc. In Winter Update Question

I know I saw this somewhere on here, but my searching has yielded no results, so please excuse if this is a repeat.

I remember seeing (I think on the 2014 Berkeley thread) that part of the winter update was self filling in either IGETC or major prep (or maybe both?). Would someone please elaborate on the process? Is this for all UCs or just some? Thanks!

I don’t recall anything about IGETC being discussed in the winter update.

You do indicate on your application if you’ll be completing IGETC by end of Spring, though.

It’s part of the general UC app. You just log back into the site, and update your Spring schedule and fall grades. Some of the schools (like Berkeley) will also email you with extra forms to fill out.

Hmm, this refers to the myBerkeleyApp update in winter. It may or may not change for the upcoming year. I don’t know.

Anyways, yes, they do have you fill out the courses you are satisfying with IGETC or UC Reciprocity. Most majors will require you to fill out the courses you fulfilled with major prep also, however, there are a few majors that do not require this.

This is just for Cal.

If you were referring to Berkeley, @luckie1367, then @ocnative has it right.

You must be referring to the TAU (transfer application update). Don’t worry, Cal and other uc’s usually email you what to do and when to do it. Just remember deadlines.

Thanks everyone! @Cayton , @ocnative is correct, I think. That is what I was curious about. Interesting that it is just UCB.

Do you put in just the class or also the grade? The reason I am asking is that I have two courses (A and B) that satisfy one of the IGETC sections, so I’m curious to see if it makes a difference which one I put.

I put the most recent one, which was always the one with the highest grade.

@luckie1367‌

I did what @calbro said. Put in the class and the grade, and the class that you got the highest grade in.

Berkeley was pretty annoying with that stuff. I can only imagine why they required the separate application for us.

@Cayton Outdated systems which they seem persistent to keep. Just take a look at telebears [-(

@hairlesscow‌

I’m only vaguely familiar with telebears and it seems that many Cal students hate it. What’s wrong with it? What is it even, really?

@Cayton.

Telebears is used to register for classes.

@ocnative‌

Ah.

How has your experience been with Telebears?

@Cayton‌

My experience with it was fine, lol. I don’t know what it is that @hairlesscow doesn’t like about it.

My experience was fine too lol. It’s still outdated though

I think my problem is that it is not as efficient as other schools registration systems

@hairlesscow‌

Aren’t you a Polisci major, also? What classes did you sign up for?
