self-Proclaimed "Tiger Mom" has more opinions

My son applied last year and there was a question for the parents essays asking what parents would want from their child through his/herboarding school education. This is what I wrote:

[I would like for my son to learn the value of society he belongs to, and grow into a person who is warm and considerate of others. I would like him to learn to take risks and to have the confidence to venture away from safety nets. I would be happy to have a son who is competitive but not greedy, and who is sensitive to those who are less privileged.]

Am I expecting too much from him?? Having an Asian background myself, I am not even half-mile close to Tigermom. It is just not in my blood. No offense to her. Am I totally wrong? I want the boarding school education to be that way.

I read a book a few years ago titled “Ahead of the curve” by Philip Delves Broughton. A British journalist, he wrote about the life during and after HBS, trying to connect the meaning of life with career on the fast lane. I have been an investment banker for 15 years before moving on to a new career and was touched so much. Strongly recommended.
