Self report bad IB score?

In July, I received a 4/7 on my IB Spanish B SL Exam. Spanish has always been one of my weaker subjects, but this score stands out as exceptionally low compared to the rest of my scores and contrasts poorly with my A in the class (I did barely scrape by with an A though, but my school only shows the letter grade).

The score was based on one oral exam that I had with my Spanish teacher over zoom a week or two after school’s shut down due to COVID, and I also had to start over because my teacher’s wifi crashed in the middle of it.

Should I omit to self-report this score or include it and explain the circumstances of the exam in my additional information section? Thanks!

I would not report it. It doesn’t add to your transcript and calls into doubt the grading scale at your school. And most colleges don’t give much weight to SL exams anyway.

Much like AP, colleges in the US don’t use IB scores for admissions, but for potential college credit.

However, did you get an IB Diploma? If so, it would be strange not to include it. If you did not, then it doesn’t seem worth it to report it.
