Self reporting grades ? What's this all about?

The application section for self reporting grades is incredibly tedious & it's selection of final grades do not match up with what D's HS offers (posted a score of 1 to 200?). 45 mins worth of transcript work (not application) & still not complete!

Few questionable points:

How do they monitor the accuracy of self reporting?
Seems they are putting administrative work on applicant- what's the $65 app fee for?
No recommendations needed--is the app. even reviewed by a person or is it all algorithms?
The request for self reporting transcript came after we submitted application fee $65. I feel like this is a bait & switch.

Many kids refuse to do applications w/ additinal essays-- might have thought the same about extra work involved here. Although this may sound obxnoius- it's not if the applicant is applying to Rutgers as a safety -- which everyone chooses a few safeties.

Last point - I'm guessing: an admin assist probably checks official transcript against self reported-- huge room for errors.

You have to send your final transcript. If there are any big differences (like changing GPA, final grades, rank, or class difficulties) you can get kicked out before you get in.

Of coarse they want the final transcript – why bother w/ the self reporting?

Rutgers actually had the cheapest app fee out of the places i applied to.

There really is no need for recommendation letters since it’s such a big school and they don’t know everyone by name. On the bright side, it’s less of a hassle for your daughter :)

I’m pretty sure nobody actually reads the essays in-depth, you just need one for scholarship consideration.

I read in the newspaper last year that admissions is based on a computer program. Supposedly you’re automatically accepted if you meet the school’s minimum SAT scores. But even if your daughter has excellent SAT scores make sure she finishes the app ASAP, because there’s a point when Rutgers meets their quota and becomes more selective.

Still stuck in Self Reporting no man’s land- arrrrgh!

Spoke w/ 2 people in admissions- finally determined after 30 mins where original input error was. Now it still won’t accept the grades. I want my $65 back.

Drexler- $65 is on par & it’s not cheap.

it’s certainly not cheap but most schools charge even more for their application fee. most schools also require midyear score reports which was even more annoying :(

Rutgers is not the only school that requires self reporting, the California State Schools require it as well. Be armed with an unofficial transcript so that course names and grades will match when you send in the offical transcript at the end of June. I think it was fairly easy if the information is right in front of you. With you submitting it at least you know it got there for the inital acceptance and didn’t get lost in your high schools college center.
