Self Study: AP Chemistry or AP Physics 1 & 2?

I’ve been thinking about this for a couple days now.
My school only offers science APs senior year (with a limit of 1 science AP), and I have already chosen to take AP Biology. However, I would like to earn credit for another science, so I am debating between self studying AP Chemistry or the two Physics APs.
Unfortunately I most likely won’t be able to perform the labs for either of the classes (unless they’re on google), but I am willing to spend extra time studying on my own.

Which AP is easier to get a score of 4+?
What books do you recommend?
I would appreciate some tips as well.

Thanks for reading!

Hello! AP Physics is. AP Chemistry requires a lot of lab experiences, especially when the test is designed so that it tests you on “real lab scenarios.” I would recommend you self-studying AP Physics 1 (this is easier, algebra based + formula stuff) instead.

Well, 63% failed the AP Physics 1 exam, and I’m assuming most of them actually took the class, so that’s probably not the best option for self-study. However, the physics and chem exams will both have questions pertaining to lab work, so I really don’t see how you will perform wee on either without that experience. Good luck.

I wouldn’t recommend you self study both Physics 1 and 2. Self Study Physics 2…

I would recommend that you study for AP Chem as most schools accept AP Chem for credit while some do not accept Physics 1/2, only Physics C.

If you can get a tutor that teaches AP physics, then physics 1/2, then go for it.

AP Chem is harder and requires lab experiences, and it is less “self-study” friendly than physics.

Thanks guys! Do you know if Educator.com is a good website?

I agree with @skieurope. Though I believe self-studying for either of these would not be a good idea, I think you should go with AP Chem. I just do not believe there are enough self-study materials that mimic the AP Physics 1 and 2 exams accurately enough yet because they are brand new exams. In addition, as @skieurope said, 63% of people failed the AP Physics 1 exam.

You need labs to succeed in AP Chem. Have the resources for that so you can succeed.

If you decide to self study AP. Physics 1 and 2, use edx.org in addition to a textbook because it has virtual labs that follow the collegeboard curriculum
