Self-Study AP Gov

Hi,
so I'm relatively new to CC and this is my first post. I'm a current junior and consider myself a strong student and college applicant (ranked 1 in class with strong extracurriculars and a varsity athlete). Having been previously unaware of CC I hadn't really heard of AP self-studying (NO one at my school does it).

I'm currently taking AP Calc and APUSH but would love to learn about AP Gov (my school is really annoying in that you can't take AP's AT ALL until junior year and some not until senior year. So, with regards to taking a ton of AP's I'm limited.) I just recently decided to self-study it and was wondering what resources I should use. I've heard that PR has a good prep book and wasn't sure if that should be used along with a textbook or not.

This may seem stupid, but for a first time self-study would you suggest AP Gov at all or should I focus on AP human geography or something else?

I'd appreciate any help!
thanks.

^ Good thread for self-studying in general. The poster says that he only used review books. I haven't self-studied anything, but I guess college textbooks are overkill for most subjects.

Don't know much about AP Gov

But AP Human Geography would be reallllly easy to self-study. All you need is a prep book (Barrons is pretty good) and just study all the terms, do the practice tests and you should be fine! It might be nice to start out with something easy. AP Macro/Microecon shouldn't be too bad to study for either.

If you're good at English, then AP English Lang and Composition won't take much prep (just reading, answering questions and essays)

History classes are just hard to study for because there's SO much information. If you really like gov and wouldnt mind studying for it throughout the year...then go for it! It'll look extremely good if you get a good score on it. A textbook will have a lot of info you don't really need to know..I think PR would be a good choice.
