hey guys i was planning ahead for next year and i think that I want to self study this exam.
can you give me some advice?
what prep book should I get?
how hard is it?

also if it helps, im going to be in Modern US History next year. (we dont have apush) one thing to note is that it is Modern US history. So we cover stuff from the 1880s ish to present

I used the ethel woods book for review which is actually a textbook but my government teacher copied every page and made packets for us. I got a 5, and I have taken 8 Aps and it was my first 5. That should show that it wasn’t that hard. I seriously think I only missed like 3 on the entire MC. If you have a good background in history, it helps alot. Alot of the questions seemed to be about historical stuff including amendments, founding fathers, court cases, federalist papers, etc. Also the 3 branches of government make up 35 to 45 percent of the test. Overall i thought it was extremely easy especially since i only got to study for like 3 hours since i was in Anaheim the day before the test. The Princeton Review book seems pretty good, thats what the consensus here on CC seems to be. I loved Ethel Woods though, try to get it if you can!

Really easy to self-study ONLY IF you already have an interest. I was a debate nerd throughout high school, so I knew about the inner workings of government already. I took AP Gov, but for the test, the stuff I learned was 100% in the textbook. You can probably do it.

I totally agree with wake. Wood and Princeton are your best bets. Princeton’s exams were very, very close to the actual AP in terms of type and difficulty. I was so happy to find a Wood book in the trash one day; the review is perfect.
