Self-study AP Physics B or AP Physics C

Hey guys,

I'm a junior and am taking AP Calc BC and Physics HN this year. The school year has just begun, I've already decided that I will take the SAT II Physics test this spring. So I was also thinking that I could self teach myself AP Physics. I have a genuine interest in phyisics, I'm the type that owns books about the string theory, quantum theory, hyperspace, and whatnot. So I really want to learn more about Physics. I was wondering about which AP exam I should take? Since I am taking Calc would Phyisics C be better or should I take Physics B ? Or how about just taking both? Also I want to do more advanced physics courses at NVCC (I live in NOVA) or someplace else this summer. Which AP test(s) would work as a prerequisite course? If someone has any advice about where I can take this course that would be helpful too...

I'm really most interested in knowing which test I should take but any other advice is helpful! I do understand that self-teaching myself Physics will be difficult, but I am willing to undertake the necessary effort... so please

Thanks for your consideration!

I would say if you have a good understanding of calc physics C is a much easier self study, due to the fact that it covers less of a range of topics.

It’s really your choice. If you like depth, go with C. If you like breadth, go with B. If you really really like physics, then do both.

Where I am, the only prereq for starting the calc-based physics sequence at CCs is calculus. If your CC has courses more advanced than freshman-level, I’m jealous. xP (Then again, my CC doesn’t accept Physics C for placement, so…)
