Ok so i guess it wouldn't be considered self-studying since I'm taking a general psychology class. however, my school doesn't offer an AP psych course but I've heard the exam is pretty easy compared to other AP exams.

so do you think if i bought i prep book and took the general psych class that I would do fine on the exam?

no one at my school self-studys and no one takes AP exams that aren't offered at school.. so this would be pretty rare. I've also heard that intro to psych classes are always the largest freshmen year classes so i would love to get out of it by doing well on the AP exam and getting credit.

finally, how could i show colleges I'm taking the exam on my application if there is no "AP" in front of my psych class?

any answers to my questions would be great as well as suggestions and opinions!!

thanks!

Yeah, you'd do fine... apparently people read one half of Barron's the night before and then one half the morning of and get crazy stuff like 5's.

I don't think there's any way to show colleges that you're taking the exam.

Just get Barron's and read it in the month or so before the test and you'll be alright.

I read Barrons AP Psych twice three days before the exam and got a 5. It's really easy if you can memorize.

alright guys thanks. i'm taking a regular psych class so that should help with the memorizing. now i just have to find out how to register for it since there is no class. this should be interesting haha.

lol im in the same boat as you. im taking psych next year... just not ap psych (school doesn't offer it) but im planning on taking the ap exam anyway.

^ yeah why not.

basically my reasons are:

1) get the credit so i don't have to take it in college
2) possibly get national AP scholar
3) because i hear it's easy so why not.

for my second reason.. i've read that intro to psych is a large class taken freshmen year, but I haven't actually looked into it. is the intro class usually required for all freshmen??

It's super easy. Plus, I'm the one mentioned in trjohnson1's post. lol

i have the same reasons. minus national ap scholar since ill be a senior and it doesn't matter for me.

plus my friend took psych, and then ap psych and said it was the biggest waste of time because it was the same exact thing. she never studied and got a 5.

hey i think i remember your post and that's why i thought of taking the exam now lol. THANKS YEAHALLIE! haha

lol, yeahallie, you're a role model to AP Psychology self-studiers everywhere!

Seriously, some mad props to that. Had you ever had any background to psychology before then?

I took a complete joke of a psych class at my school. It was a semester of hearing a twenty-somthing-year-old talk about himself. I didn't learn anything. My friend and I spent the whole time counting all the Asians in the textbook...lol.
