Hey guys, I was wondering... if someone wants to take self study ap classes how do they list them to colleges if the test isnt taken yet. Im a rising senior and thinking about taking AP Env Sci on my own but I will be admitted before colleges see the score. Do I list it as one of my AP classes on my schedule or what?

No you can't list it as a class on your schedule if you are not taking it.

For most colleges you have to send a mid year report and an end of year report, sent from your high school. AP enviro would not be on your schedule.

You can sign up, and take the test next May and have the scores before you go to school in the fall.

OK gotcha, thanks for the clarification

could you do it as an independent study with a teacher? That would give you some sort of documentation. I don't think you could reasonably claim it on your app merely because you intend to prepare for and take the exam on your own. Best laid plans and all that....

Im in the Johns Hopkins Gifted Program for students and I can take AP classes through them. Does that count for putting it down on college apps?

You can request a transcript from JHU, or at least some sort of document listing the classes you are taking through them. Send it in as supplemental material, list it somewhere on your app.
