Many of you who are vying for National AP Scholar are doing self-study. I was wondering how does this work? Is it as simple as buying a prep book and working through it? Which subjects are easiest/best suited for self-study? My school offers only the most basic APs like sciences and languages, so it is hard to take 8+. Answer soon please! Thanks!

I've heard psychology, stats, environmental science, econ, gov't are good for self-study. Yes you pretty much read a prep book, work out the problems, absorb info

That's true-- I decided last February/March to take APES and got a five without much trouble. I'd also taken Psych as a class and got a 5 on the exam, but wished I hadn't wasted my time as the review book method would have been just as productive.
