what is the point to all these self-studying APs?
does it honestly look better on college applications?
do colleges really look at it?

how much does it affect the whole thing if you take the test but not the course?

I think the point is that there are people who think classes are a waste of time. With the right amount of self-motivation, many people can learn more efficiently on their own.

I am self studying AP Human Geography with these intentions:

-I am genuinely interested in the subject and my school doesn’t offer it
-It may look good on my app next fall; self-motivation and whatnot
-I learn better on my own

Some others may be doing it for those AP awards, too.
