Self-Study Calc BC -- Help me pick out a textbook!

<p>Well, I've made up my mind to self-study ap calc bc. Did AB, aced it, aced the test. My school doesnt offer BC so I want to self study it.</p>

<p>I want to start this summer right away not waste any time.</p>

<p>I'm looking for a good, healthy textbook. My budget is around $30 for a used book, not looking for a new one. I looked on Collegeboards website and they have a big list of recommended books. I would like to know which ones are the best/good/better/you get the idea.</p>

<p>So far I've come across the book by Stewart: Single Variable Calculus with Vector Function, looks cool.
and one by Hughes-Hallett: Single Variable Calculus, looks cooler.</p>

<p>Anyone have any ideas as to which one is better or any other suggestions for books?</p>

<p>My junior friend used Princeton Review this year and he said it was really good.</p>

<p>Btw, why prepare so early?</p>

<p>I've never seen anyone prepare for AP tests before April at the earliest. Summer? wow..</p>

<p>Definitely look at a review book first to see the scope of the test. The BC exam is mostly AB material with about two or so areas added. Many high schools teach BC only since the test has an AB subscore. You may find you do not need a text book to learn the additional material.</p>

<p>Actually, if you start now, you'd probably finish all the extra BC stuff before school starts. Maybe you could try taking math classes at a local college or something.</p>

<p>I too am looking for a Calc textbook. I'm using the PR Calc BC one but I'm a type of guy who needs thorough practice to learn so I need to do like 30 questions per chapter so I need a school textbook to do more questions...</p>

<p>what is making single variable calc cooler in your eye then the Stewart textbook? </p>

<p>Here is Thomas Calculus, there are exercises, readings, and for most, videos. If you know where to look you can also "obtain" the answer key.</p>

Thank you for that website, it's the best one I've seen. I'll definitely be referring to that a lot.</p>

<p>Everyone seems to be talking about the PR calculus review book so I'll just get a copy of that and thanks to viciouspoultry, I wont be needing a textbook.</p>

<p>I guess there's no point in starting to early, so I'll just sit back, relax, and enjoy summer for now.</p>
