I have seen many a thread talking about self-studying different AP courses. I have just one question: How?! Do you do it online? Do you go to your GC? I am at an IB school but want to take Psycology and possibly something else.

Yeah, just talk to your counselor or whatever other administrative official would be able to grant you permission to sign up for additional tests. Then buy a prep-book/textbook and read it. If you want to take an online course in the subject, that’s up to you; choose however you want to study and learn the material.

In the case of ap psychology, all you really need is a good prep-book to successfully self-study.

You take a review book and inhale it. Basically.

lol, what shizzle said^

but really, it’s not too outrageous of a concept if you put your mind to it and really study

With some APs, it’s as simple as getting a review book and reading it. Others you have to work in a textbook and review book and focus a lot on it, as if you had a class. In the case of psych, your review book is probably enough.

You buy a review book/textbook for the AP test you want to take, get your school to order the APs you are interested in, and then take the test.

As everybody else said, it depends on what you want to do. One of my friends (who took the Physics C: Mechanics exam) took physics with calculus I at the local community college and studied the hell out of his textbook. He did a bunch of FRQs as well. Another friend self-studied psychology by memorizing the Barron’s review book. I plan on self-studying comparative government and will probably go down the review-book lane. If I have a schedule conflict my senior year, I might have to self-study chemistry, which I would do by completing homework problems in the textbook.

Check this thread before you self study. I hope it helps you. Dont self study if you already have a overload time schedule.
