I really want to self study macro
and micro economics but im not sure if that would be too hard. Anyone who has taken these what do you think?

Or good books to use?

I’m taking them next year (the class), but from what I’ve heard, macro is significantly easier than micro.

You’ve got it backwards. Macro is significantly harder than Micro (I just self-studied and took the tests this year); Micro is very straightforward, while Macro is much harder. Doable though, I’m hoping I got 5’s on both.

Which books did you use?

Kaplan mostly, along with 5 steps to a 5 and Princeton’s for the tests.

Really? Micro is easier than Macro? I heard it was the other way around. Cuz isn’t macro similar to looking at the broader picture

well, it’s about government controls and stuff, and me and everyone else i know who took the exams thought it was harder. however, this year the actual AP exams were about the same in difficulty, but every other pair of tests i have taken, micro was much easier.

Hey bobtheboy
if you only had one of those books to study all the material from, which would you choose out of the ones you used? Thanks!

Well, I mostly used the Kaplan, but all were good. PR was really short but maybe adequate, not sure though. 5 steps was a bit simplistic but still good, as they usually are. I really don’t know, I think any one would be sufficient for a 5 if you study enough.

Macro is so much harder than Micro. I used Princeton and Barron’s, and got an easy 5 on Micro. I spent about double the time on Macro, and never got anywhere near the level of understanding I got in Micro. On the other hand, I started later, so I was more stressed and perhaps less able to absorb the material. I ended up with a 4. (On the other hand, hey! I didn’t even remember the /axes/ on one of the graphs we had to do, let alone what went on it, so maybe not so bad.)
