Self Study or Prep Program?

Im a American teenager living in South Korea and I was looking around for some SAT prep courses as I am planning to take the test spring of the next year. I took my PSAT last year and scored a 170. I have a lot of work to do to reach my goal of 1900-2200. I was looking at prep courses offered in Korea (Elite and other Hogwans). I've heard some success stories and some horror stories too. So my main questions are
1) Are my SAT goals realistic?
2) Should I do a self study program or a prep program?

When you are studying on your own you’ll have the benefit of studying on your own time, whether that’s cramming in a study session prior to school or slipping in a late-night session.

But if you go to a prep program you will have professionals teaching you where you can instantly clear your doubts and the other advantage is that you have to study there is no way you will miss a study session i.e you will be quite systematic.

Your goal is realistic :)

Thank you so much. You’re reply is very appreciated!
I think I will continue with a summer self study program.
Any advice as to guides or books? I know the blue book is essential but any others?

Even I have just started studying so after going through everything I have decided to buy ‘Cracking the SAT by princeton review’ (2014 edition).
I was also adviced to buy a good vocab book.
Hope this helps!
