<p>I am going to self study Physics C Mechanics and maybe EM. However, this isn't a typical self-study as I have a great physics teacher, who will review and teach me any material I didn't understand, since my school doesn't offer the either course. The problem is I have never taken a dedicated physics course in high school. I also will be taking Cal BC concurrently, with a solid grasp of AB concepts. I also am very good at science, with 5 on bio and chem. </p>
<p>My question is should I take both courses or just take mechanics because I am not sure about difficulty level?</p>
<p>If you haven’t already taken a physics course, take just mechanics, especially becausey ou don’t have a teacher for the class.</p>
<p>I would just stick to Mechanics for the time being. E&M has a lot of basis in multivariable calculus that can be blurred through enough AB/BC knowledge, but it might not make as much sense at first. If you have a great physics teacher that is able to explain the E&M concepts in a multivariable setting (instead of just brushing off “that line integral means the same thing as a regular integral”) then you could do well. (although, yes for purposes of calculation, the line integral operates as a regular integral, but the conceptual theory behind it will make so much more sense in the physics context).</p>
