Self Study Statistics Textbook?

Hey, anyone had any particular success with a certain stat textbook?

Also, I'm interested in what kind of math is involved with statistics, I'll be taking Calc BC this coming up year and I'm pretty positive I got a 5 on AB, so Calculus would be a plus.

Any help is appreciated.

AP STATISTICS TEXTBOOK:

Moore, David S. and George P. McCabe. Intro to Practice of Statistics, 4th Edition

*Yates, Daniel S., David S. Moore, and Daren S. Starnes. The Practice of Statistics. New York: W.H. Freeman, 2003

i'm also self-studying AP statistics...i'm not sure which of these textbooks i'm going to use, but both are popular Ap stat books.

anyway, good luck my fellow ap stat self studier.

Bock, Delleman, De Veaux, Stats: Modeling the World.

It's a really good, easy-to-understand textbook. Kind of entertaining too. Good luck!

^^ the editions might be off though (post 2)

Get the book by Yates.

The Practice of Stats is a good book.

Stats can actually be learned quickly through self-study.

Get PR (if you are in a rush) or Barrons (if you have 1-2 months) and go through the book. Pay special attention on hypothesis testing. The 5 is yours.

so a txtbook is not reallt necessary? just barrons and/or PR

no, get the textbook as well.....self-studying AP stats probably isn't like self-studying AP pysch. it's probably a bit more demanding.

You will probably understand everything except hypothesis testing. I don't think any prep book does a very good job of presenting that concept, so if you're foggy on that, then consult a textbook.
