So, I know there's a lot of threads out there about self studying APs, BUT, hear me out.

This year, I didn't get to take all the AP classes I wanted because they weren't offered at the times I needed them to be... Here's what I AM taking this year. Would it be reasonable to do at least one self-study AP?

AP English Lit
IB Business
AP Calc BC
2nd semester Theory of Knowledge
AP/IB Chemistry
AP Stats
German IV

You’ve already got a lot of AP classes and a tough courseload. If you do choose to self-study, you may want to choose one of the easier ones like Psychology. Self-studying a science is never a good idea because you miss out on the labs and definitely not a good idea with a tough courseload. Psychology is mostly memorization and concepts so as long as you’re good with that, you should do fine.

Well, Psychology was one of the classes that I wanted to take this year.

How does one… go about self studying? Just read the review book a hundred times? Or… is there more to it?

You can go to the AP Central website, look up the course website, and look at recommended textbooks for the actual course. Look at reviews of those textbooks and get one of them to study out of. Or, you could go with the minimal approach and get a Princeton Review or Barron’s AP Psychology study book, I guess.
