Self Studying a Language for Fun

I need to learn Indonesian. For mi familia.

I want to learn Spanish. Study abroad in Spain. Minor in it. Kind of a fail since I’m taking French, but eh. High school classes are lame. Spanish is a fun language. I look Hispanic, I might as well start speaking the language, too.

I’m self-studying German for fun as well as Spanish for serious learing… I’ve gotten about as far as Das Madchen ist nicht alt.

Strangely, “Madchen” or “girl” is gender neutral… So you literally say “The girl is not at home. It is staying the night with friends.”

I agree. I could never do that course for too long. I want to take a fun class though…not the high school courses…bleh

btw, has anyone tried with podcasts?

@MosbyMarion: How are you self-studying German?

My brother (28 yrs) self-studied Japanese and after about 2.5 years is mostly fluent. He moved to Japan about three months ago. I’m so impressed with his dedication :o He did it by studying. A LOT. Like, after two years of learning, he was still studying an hour a day, reviewing digital flashcards on his ipod touch when he was bored, and going to bed at night while listening to Japanese TV programs…

I’m trying to follow in his footsteps, and I know a bit, but I’m lazy Dx

^ If only I was as dedicated as your brother. I’d be beyond fluent right now. :(

yeah, same here xD I’m so lazy…
