So I'm thinking about Self Studying AP Biology is this feasible? What are your recommendations for tackling such a task like what textbook and prep books would be best. Also, since this is a self study, I don't really know how incorporation labs into it would work out or if they're even necessary. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I plan to start this if I do some time in November.

If it matters, I self studied AP Enviro. and Psych and got 4s on both, the latter of which I studied in literally only two days .

Use Cliffsnote! Last year I took AP bio and because my teacher spent all year on genetics, I almost self-studied all the other topics and got 5. Studying and memorizing contents in Cliffsnote would be sufficient. Make sure you dont forget all the stuffs you just learnt when you move onto new chapter… ! Also, practice with any MC you can somehow get and check out collegeboard AP website that has all the old FRQs.

There are some questions about labs in the MC section, but most of them are slight variations of labs described in the review book.

So would the prep book be sufficient then if I just read through that a couple of times, or do I need to read the beefy Biology Textbooks. I’m looking to pulling at least a 4 on it (otherwise I wouldn’t get credit at the college I’m aiming to go to). Thanks for the reply!

Hope you are prepared for a ton of reading!!!

Well, in my class, the Campbell textbook was used just only for few times. And the info learned from this learning almost overlapped with cliffs! So yeah in my personal opinion cliffs is a very ‘concentrated’ and compressed version of all Ap bio materials. Good luck!! ;)

Would the prep book be sufficient enough for a 4? If not, what else could supplement it?

Does anyone have an answer to the above question? Any additional info. on undertaking this task would be great.

Read the entire campbells
Read the entire cliffnotes

GUARANTEE’d 4 and most likely 5
