First off, I'm not trolling. I've already taken Honors Chem so I hope that this won't be that big of a deal.

Second, I'm going hard. I'm putting in 4-6 hours a day. I started today.

Third, I'm not fully preparing for the AP Exam. I'm doing something between just getting a broad overview of the course and being able to get a 5 easily. I probably want to be able to get a 3 consistently on the exams.

So if anyone wants to join me, it would make this whole expedition a lot more fun:) We could talk about our progress and whatnot... Like a book club. I would also have more motivation.

lol, not enough time to do enough learn the material, practice it, and then AP Practice it. Nearly impossible, but theres a small chance that you succeed. (this is assuming your AP Chem class and honors chem class are pretty different, idk how much u learned in honors chem…) also AP always has those stupid lab ?'s…

Supposedly, the Honors Chem and AP Chem are pretty similar with the exception of a ridiculous amount of O-Chem in Honors Chem. We did like half a semester of O-Chem when I was in Honors Chem haha.

Well, we’ll see. I’m planning to put in 8-10 hours tomorrow and have a list of everything that I’m not already familiar with. I’ll probably post that list by this time tomorrow. Maybe I should have created a blog or something haha.

I’ve taken Honors chemistry, AP chemistry, and IBHL chemistry. Don’t be cocky. There is much more information in AP chemistry than Honors chemistry.

Aren’t Honors Chem classes different everywhere? How do you know exactly what my class was like???

And just to be clear, I’m really not trying to be cocky. I realize that this will be a very intense challenge, and honestly, my summer needs some intensity.

I’m surprised nobody wants to do this with me… Out of all of the people on this forum I would think that a couple of people would want to eat, sleep, and breathe chemistry for a week.

I’m using a 19 chapter AP Review Book (Clearly won’t give a fully comprehensive understanding of AP Chem, but see OP) and I’ve gone through the first five chapters today. [ Basics, Reactions and Periodicity, Stoichiometry, Gasses, and Thermodynamics] I understood most everything, but it still took me 3.5 hours. Tomorrow I’m aiming for 5-7 chapters depending on my attention span.

And I have nothing better to do during the week. Boo, you whores.
Again, you don’t know what my Honors Chem class was like. We used the same book as the AP kids and only split off in the last 9 weeks.

I like your ambition and your self-motivation, but I see absolutely no point in this endeavor. Tell me, what is your objective in this one week of intense studying? What are you trying to accomplish? I have no doubts that you will get a 5 easily on the exam, seeing as you will have taken 2 years of chemistry for the test. Honors Chemistry already provides sort of a foundation for AP Chemistry. Try investing your time in volunteer work, play a sport, or hang out with friends if nothing else! I feel as though doing this will not net you any significant benefits.

If you truly enjoy chemistry and are doing this for your own satisfaction, by all means, do it! But a better idea would be to find a research internship with the chemistry department at your local university or to take a additional chemistry course at your local university (like Organic Chemistry 101A or something like that).

Yeah I am taking the course and the AP Exam in the fall.

It would be fun to revisit my notes throughout the school year next year and add to them. I think doing this will also make me a bit better at chemistry come fall (I’ll be more familiar with the topics… maybe?). But who cares!!! I’m excited about this. I might do it with my other AP’s too just for the heck of it.

I wish that someone would take me for research! I applied for so many during the winter/spring, and didn’t really get anything so… this is the next best thing. Parties and stuff are really only during the weekends/at night, so my days are devoid of activity. Wish some of you would join me.

BTW I’m taking gov, English lit and BC Cal (already took AB) next year if anyone wants to do anything next week.
