Hey guys I'm going to be a junior this year and am looking into self-studying AP French. I think I read somewhere before that it's a really hard AP, but I think I can do it, as I really love learning French (I got a 98 on the French Regents if that means anything). The end of last year my average in French was 100, I am taking French CH this year, and my teacher is also the teacher of the 12th grade French class (it's not AP, just college-credit from a local university) so that should help. I just wanted to know the basic lay-out of the test. Does it involve a lot of listening (I may be good at reading and writing if I do say so myself, but I suck at listening). Is it like, that hard that it would be wasting $90 to sign up for the test? Merci!

If you are taking other French classes, I don’t foresee you having much of a problem. Since you shall still be learning the language, you should know the language well enough for the exam. The structure of it is easy to learn, so you should try.

I was prepared to say don’t, if you weren’t in a French class. But since you are, go for it.

So I’ve decided to go through with it. Can anyone recommend review books? I plan on getting barron’s (its says 2013 edition, so hopefully it’s been updated-I heard the test was changed a bit back in 2012, and most review books aren’t helpful or something.)
