Self-Studying AP Physics C/AP Chem

Hi! I really enjoy learning science and I wanted to take APs in all of the science subjects this year, but unfortunately my schedule didn't allow for it. Currently, I am taking both AP Bio and AP Physics B, and I will be taking the AP Environmental exam in May (I took it over the summer at my school). Would it be a good idea for me to try and self study both AP Physics C's and AP Chem? I am already planning to take seven other AP exams this year (Calc, Micro, Enviro, Physics B, Lang, Bio, and US History) so I am wondering if this would be a good idea. If you have self-studied any of these subjects, could you please tell me how long it took you, what resources you used, and how you did on the exam? Thanks!

As a reference point, I have taken 9 APs in the past two years and earned 5s on all of them. I have never self-studied any APs though. I am also dual enrolling this fall and hoping to dual enroll in the spring, but I am not completely sure about the spring yet.

Thanks!

Hey you seem to be in a close situation as me! I too am self studying physics C and ap chem while taking 10 other APs this year.
Look, everyone has the potential to hand a big work load. If you are will to devote time to study a rigorous course on your own then do it. It is a good idea. If I were you I probably woupdnt dual enroll for spring because you are going to need the extra time for your APs forsure. As for resources I’m not sure what I’m going to use yet but I’m sure people around the forum.can help you and I both on that part. Good luck!

Okay, thanks for the advice! Wow, 10 APs? That’s a lot! Which ones are you taking?

Also, I heard that there is a new curriculum for AP Chem this year, so that’s another reason why I’m unsure as to whether or not self-studying it is a good idea, since no one will really know what the exam will be like.

I’m taking
APUSH
APES
Lit
Computer science
Government
Calc AB
Macro Eco
Biology
Chemistry
Physics C M
Physics C E/M
Psychology

And yes sadly the curriculum changed. So self studying might be a little more difficult since prep books don’t get updated for awhile but it’s still possible to get the 5 we’re all hoping for! :D

IMO, it is less worthwhile to study the AP hard sciences. Because then you don’t get the lab and don’t learn lab techniques or use lab software. But I guess it’s all up to you and if you think you can do it, go for it.

@pretzel729 Oh my! Haha it looks like you’re taking all the exams I took last year and plan to take this year combined. Are you aiming for fives on all of them?
