is ap stats doable alone?
I heard that it's just knowing how to use formulas and they are all already given.
any thoughts and ways to study?

I’d say it’s pretty hard to self study. I took it my sophomore year and didn’t think it was that bad, but I will say that the class is weird and unlike any of the other AP classes. If you are highly motivated, then go for it. But it’s very helpful to have someone who knows stats that you can ask.

It’s not just knowing the formulas (and even so, not all of them are given in exam day). There’s a lot of interpreting answers in context and finding out the meaning behind the numbers you are given.
However, it’s not complicated. The math involved isn’t considered difficult and the concepts are easy to grasp and understand. It can be self studied, assuming of course you will be taking it next year and not the next week.
