Self-studying APs?

I'm a Canadian student and there are no AP or IB classes available at my school. I am planning to apply to a top university in the United States. I've referred to the official websites of the schools which I am interested in and have understood that the admissions committee would not hold this against me, as long as I am taking the most challenging courses AVAILABLE at my school. However, would self-studying some AP courses be impressive and strengthen my application, as I am going beyond what is available at my school to seek a challenging and rigorous education? Should I self study come APs, considering that it would not be disadvantageous if I do not?
Thanks =)

Being your school does not offer APs DO IT but you must stay dedicated. For me am doing four APs self studying this year because me school does not offer APs. I personilty feel it will make you look well academically rounded some may not. Also it enriching as well to undertake this program. It’s a matter of opinion.
