I am currently a freshman and am considering to self-study AP Human Geography and AP Economics (both). I am a straight A student, but I haven't taken an AP course yet (I am in Honors World History, though, which is pre-AP and is the first half of AP World History). I plan on buying the PR and Barrons review books. I just want to know:

1) Will these two books be enough to get a 5 on the exams or will I need a textbook?
2) Do you think I will have enough time to study considering it is almost February, especially because I'm a freshman?

I would really appreciate it if you guys could respond soon because i need to buy the books and register and whatnot. Thanks in advance to all those who post.

Hmm, I don't know. I know Human Geography would be perfectly manageable to self-study (just use Barron's prep). But I don't know how rigorous both econ will be for you. I've hear that macro is a lot easier to self-study for than micro. Good luck!

I figured as much about Human Geography. I am currently in Honors Geometry at school and I am a very strong student in math, which I thought would help me with Economics. I probably will decide soon considering I have to start studying soon and talk to collegeboard about where I can take them if I decide to take the exams. I also have to talk to my guidance counseler about missing school on the day of the AP exams (I just hope she doesn't think I'm crazy to be taking an AP course by myself as a freshman though).

Its definitely possible. Those tests are all very easy. Micro may be a little harder since its February, but honestly, you probably don't need more than 3-4 weeks per course to get a 4/5. And since you are a freshman, you will have a lot more time available than most juniors and seniors do, so you should have plenty of time to finish before May.
