Self-Studying Chemistry?

My school offers acceleration exams in order to test out of classes, and I was thinking of attempting this for chemistry. I've self-studied before and know I can do it, but I don't know if this is the best idea. Could you see any faults with teaching yourself chemistry? Also, I've heard Zumdahl has the best chemistry textbooks, but this is for a regular chemistry class, not AP Chem. Would Zumdahl still be the best textbook option?

We use Zumdahl for our AP Chem textbook and it has all the info and more. Personally, I think the textbook is too detailed and PR is enough.

I wouldn’t advise self-studying chemistry 'cause it’s pretty hard…do at your own risk.

Yayy finally someone else self-studying Chem!! I googled good AP Chem textbooks a while ago and a lot of people said Zumdahl was way too detailed but Brown and LeMay’s “Chemistry: The Central Science” was easy to understand.

Here’s the thread I was looking at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/516400-ap-chemistry-textbook.html

Haha good luck. I’m only self-studying because a) my chem teacher himself said he wouldn’t even take his class, b) he doesn’t teach it, you have to learn it on your own anyways in the AP class, c) 10,000x more stress cause he’s crazy. Also my school might not even offer it next year because not enough people signed up to fill one class. :P

I’m currently self-studying Chem. I have a Zumdahl, it does the job.
