My counseller thinks its pointless to take an AP if I don't take the class because he says that colleges don't care. Is he right? I could get a 4 or 5 by self studying but he says its not worht it because they don't look at it and it doesn't matter in admissions

Right now im on course to take 6 APs after junior year

Im talking about top 20

People self study for the credits they’ll receive in college. Not how good it looks.

college credit; AP Scholar Award; self-satisfaction because you’re self-studying a subject that you’re interested in.

Self studying is really only for college credits. Some admissions officers look favorably upon it when your school doesn’t offer many choices for ap and you decide to self study a bunch of them. But if the class is offered and you have the space in your schedule, take the class.(and pass the exam)

thanks for the advice!!!
